Testimonials

Debbie McHale of Interior Transformations is the best designer ever and we would recommend her services to anyone seeking a thorough interior/exterior designer.

My husband and I decided to hire Debbie to help with window treatments. Our windows were naked and the rooms were unappealing. Well, that ended the moment Debbie brought out her swatches of fabric. Once we decided on the fabric, we had to pick trimmings and hardware. This was no small project especially when you have two totally different personalities. However, Debbie was able to keep us both happy and we had so much fun, that before we knew it, Debbie was designing window treatments for the living room, dining room, solarium, and the master bedroom. The window treatments were designed so that each room came alive. Debbie would provide sketches and this made it easy for my husband and I to visualize how the drapes would look in each room and window.

We had many projects with Debbie in which she was able to make our house a HOME. All we had to do was pick the color, the product, or the design, and Debbie did everything else. All of the subcontractors were handled through Debbie. All products purchased were inspected by Debbie. All installations from the drapes to lighting were overseen by Debbie.

She redesigned our entire living room from the drapes to painting, reupholstering the furniture, to adding superb lighting. We consider our living room the most beautiful room in the house. Debbie was able to do this throughout our entire house. It seems wherever she had input, the outcome was breathtaking (she reupholstered our deck furnishings).

We highly recommend Debbie McHale of Interior Transformations to be your design consultant.

We are so happy that you were part of our project. You made it easy for us to progress smoothly to the end. This was important to us, because we are more prone to dragging our feet.

We appreciated your help with choosing the vanity/countertop, along with the hardware. Also, your choice of tiles/color schemes for the floors, shower, and walls was an integral part of the reason why we are so happy and satisfied with our beautiful bathroom. We enjoyed working with your suppliers. The quality of their materials are excellent. Thank you for the transformation.

I would be honored to recommend Debbie McHale as an interior designer. We are thrilled with our new orthodontic office and could not have achieved our wonderful space without Debbie’s guidance.

She kept us on schedule, coordinated installations with the builder and streamlined the design process. The entire process ran flawlessly and created a stress free environment for four busy orthodontists. I highly recommend Debbie if you are remodeling or building a new professional office.

“We are very thankful to have been introduced to Debbie McHale of Interior Transformations. Our relationship started initially as a small paint color consultation project when we were repainting portions of our home.

We were extremely happy with the results and decided to see if Debbie would be interested in helping with our kitchen remodel. Debbie totally exceeded our expectations. She had fresh new ideas that really made what could have been a ‘standard’ kitchen remodel a real spectacular project with an outstanding result.

Debbie helped us think outside the box for ways to make the project custom and unique. We were able to add a bar counter that our son loves to sit at and additional storage by moving an existing door over. We are extremely happy with the results of our experience with Debbie at Interior Transformations. We look forward to using her services on future home improvement projects for her outstanding ideas.

We were pleased with the architecture of our timber frame home, but we needed furniture and finishes that complemented the rustic interior. Debbie was able to work with us to find elegant furnishings that suited our tastes and really made our home a livable showpiece. Now our home looks more than furnished, it’s finished.

— Mary Lynn Hansen

Debbie certainly chose the correct name for her business – Interior Transformations. She has the ability to transform a space as well as the mindset of her clients. .

When I met Debbie, I was “afraid” of color, and blending shapes and textures. She has completely opened my mind, and now each day I am able to enjoy the beauty that she has created in my space. The experience of working with Debbie has transformed me, and I completely trust her judgment. I can’t wait to work with her again!”

We would highly recommend Debbie McHale of Interior Transformations to anyone who is in need of a friendly, competent, and creative all-purpose designer. Debbie literally transformed our vague concepts for our rebuild into a beautiful and livable reality.

My husband and I are two very busy professionals with two very different ideas about decorating and design. Debbie was able to work very well with each of our personality types to help us to formulate and to achieve a vision that in the end reflects our own tastes. She educated us along the way about why certain colors and concepts were appropriate or preferred over others. The end result is a home that is both functional and absolutely stunning.

Debbie McHale handled all aspects of the design process personally, from color consultation for the entire home and selection of unique lighting fixtures, to space plans in which she helped us to integrate our existing furnishings with furnishings that she helped us to identify and to procure. Through Debbie, we were able to gain access to vendors not only for furnishings, but for window treatments and kitchen and bath essentials. Debbie scheduled appointments with suppliers, met us at supplier’s showrooms and shepherded us through what would have otherwise been an overwhelming and frustrating selection process. She saved us time, money, and a lot of the stress associated with building a custom home.

Debbie was charming, unflappable and flexible. She came to us with loads of design books and samples at hours that were convenient to us. She made herself available in person, by phone or by e-mail whenever we needed her, which was particularly important when we had builder-imposed deadlines to meet. We had complete confidence in her ability as a professional and we now count her as a friend.

As a family owned business we had our hands full as we embarked on our build out of our new executive office. We were moving into a space double our existing space. We knew we wanted an office that we would describe as “professionally elegant” not ostentatious but a space that we would enjoy working in and that would reflect our mission of credibility, excellent service, and integrity.

We knew Debbie McHale of Interior Transformations from a networking group that we participated in and had seen some of her work. We decided to entrust her with the task of defining what “professional elegance” meant. Debbie was able to conceptualize, develop, and implement our desires which we sometimes had difficulty articulating. She was confident working with our plans, materials, and the myriad of contractors that we encountered during this process. Debbie made us feel more comfortable during this stressful time educating, explaining and reassuring us as we progressed. With a wonderful ability to coordinate the various materials and finishes, Debbie used an interesting mix of texture and color schemes that to our surprise worked beautifully. Throughout the process, Debbie helped make recommendations on how to spend our budget wisely, where to use the more expensive materials and areas to cut back.

There were certainly times that we were in doubt about the outcome but we learned that we could trust Debbie’s guidance in our decision making. We certainly could not have imagined that this is what “professionally elegant” looked like without Debbie’s guiding hand and creative vision. She was fantastic!

Debbie McHale is a miracle worker. She truly did a phenomenal job of transforming our home into the beautiful living space that we dreamed it could be. Debbie was extremely patient and always kept us focused on our ultimate goal. Her expertise was invaluable and she made suggestions that we never would have envisioned. It was a great relief to have someone who could handle all of our needs, from flooring to furniture and window treatments. Knowing what would and would not work, she introduced color schemes that pulled everything together. When we were unable to find a china cabinet that fit our needs, Debbie secured the services of Ken and Julie Giardini to create two beautiful pieces that were perfect for our dining room. Having Debbie on board made the entire process so much easier. Looking at our before and after pictures, it is hard to believe what a difference a few months can make.

It was a pleasure working with Debbie and we would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone in need of interior design services. Thanks to Debbie, we will enjoy our “new” rooms for years to come.

I am writing this to let you know how very happy Chuck and I are with every aspect of our engagement of Interior Transformations to update and renew our Family Room!

From the first meeting, adequate time was spent to understand our lifestyle and ask questions regarding things that are important to us and the way we live. In particular, what we liked and wanted to keep, versus what had to go in the Family Room, which became the focal point of the transformation effort.

We started with the 6-window, 2-story, north-facing window wall. Because the wall is so expansive, we hadn’t done anything with it, from the time that the house was built.

When we first moved in, in 2005, we didn’t really want window treatments on that wall. It faced north, and therefore thought it would never get full sunlight. Plus, we face a farm field—a view that we’ve never had before! 4 years later, we discovered that even though it wasn’t direct, the light coming through was in fact, fading furniture, and the harshness of the glare in the room, never allowed for good photos to be taken in that room.

Additionally, while the house was under construction, I had selected a wall color for the family room that I didn’t care for once it was finished, but didn’t want to pay the builder to re-scaffold and re-paint it again.

Given that back ground, you started by showing us ways to live with the color and liven up the room with drapery treatments, but also brought samples of some new colors to complement adjacent room colors and give the room a brighter, yet more serene feel.

The draperies and window blind treatments that were ultimately selected for the 6 windows on the window wall exceeded expectations.

First, the flexibility to control the sun light by changing the vane angles, or even fully retracting the Hunter-Douglas Silhouettes, is extraordinary, and I’m glad we spent the extra money not only for the blinds, but also to get the powered blinds at the 2-story level. Second, the drapery treatments that extend floor to ceiling for 2-stories on that wall, add such interest, finish and color to the room now. The initial sketches that you did helped us to visualize and select the final look that we wanted.

An added bonus is that our electric bill over the past 3 months that we’ve had the drapes and blinds in place has been reduced by an average of $50-$100 per month—and the past 3 summer months have been the hottest on record in Maryland!

Third, the noise reduction (acoustic comfort) in the family room is significant now, in that the transfer of noise from the family room is greatly reduced—you can’t hear the TV, or conversations in the family room, in other rooms of the house now that we have window treatments on the window wall.

Also, much attention and thought was given to the lighting in the family room. The original lighting in the room was so inadequately designed and installed by the builder. There just wasn’t enough light at night, as evidenced by the number of floor lamps that we had in the room prior to your design. With the addition of recessed lighting in the ceiling, and over two wall niches, all set with dimmers, night time lighting in the family room is so much more abundant, flexible and comfortable now, and all work was done with minimal invasiveness to the existing walls and ceilings.

And lastly, changing the color of the room has transformed the way that the room feels—now it is very warm, comfortable and ‘happy’. And the color ties in so nicely with all the other wall and furniture colors that we have throughout the rest of the house.

Most of all, it was such a pleasure to work with you. Not only are your ideas great, and fun, you really listened to our needs. You worked with us on several design and budget scenarios to get the most for our money. Most importantly, you followed up on everything, from oversight of the drape and hardware fabrication and installation, to the electrical light installations, (even buying the fixture cans when the electrician couldn’t get them from the supplier in a timely manner), and queried our satisfaction during the whole process, start to finish.

We are very pleased with everything and highly recommend you for your extraordinary interior design talent and service—all truly transformational!

Please feel free to use us as a reference.

It was an absolute pleasure working with Debbie McHale on the renovation project of my dental practice. The transformation of my office has left me proud and excited.

The result is phenomenal and is due to the hard work and expertise of Ms. McHale. The staff is ecstatic and the reviews from my patients are 100% positive. I cannot thank Debbie enough. I spend many hours at my office and the feeling and image that she created greatly exceeded my expectations. If you want the office of your dreams, Debbie McHale delivers.

We are grateful to Debbie McHale for transforming our living spaces into the home we had envisioned. From our initial consultation and throughout the project, Debbie guided us, with an emphasis on quality and value, while always keeping our personal style in mind.

As an excellent listener and communicator, Debbie took time to understand our needs, our likes and dislikes, as well as our budget and timeline. We liked how she presented us with an array of possible choices that “would work” but allowed us to make the ultimate decisions. The end result…rich fabrics, colors and textures in a warm and inviting mix. We thought Debbie was particularly adept at suggesting unexpected combinations of colors and patterns to achieve our desired look. We learned we could trust her to take our desires and turn them into our vision in ways we could not have imagined.

We saw in Debbie an ability, (which we do not have), to visualize the finished project and know what colors to use to “pull everything together.” Even this designer’s talent to simply rearrange what we already own made such a difference in enhancing our living space and creating an atmosphere of comfort.

In addition to being always well organized, detailed and punctual, the passion she brought to our projects were unique and refreshing. It has been delightful working with her!

Debbie you were an answer to my prayers! I needed to update our 1976 home but I did not know where to start or what to do. Staying within my budget and time frame, you led me to the development of our beautiful kitchen. During this initial phase of our update you recommended changing our flooring to hardwood in our kitchen and foyer area which opened up the space.

You suggested a durable carpet for up the stairs and in our hallway. You introduced color into our first floor and enhanced our architectural trim by having it painted a fresh white.

After we finished that phase, the next undertaking was our living room and dining room furnishings and window treatments. You recommended fabrics for both upholstery and draperies in warm gold, red, and cream tones. Talk about green design, we were able to keep all of our existing furnishings by reupholstering. I am very grateful that you have so many skillful, reliable people that work with you to help us achieve this great new look in our home. I have been excited to share our newly refined home with family and friends. Thank you!
I couldn’t have done it without you.

— Carol

We began working with Debbie McHale in 2016 on our Kitchen/Breakfast Room remodel that grew into including our Family Room in 2017.

Our kitchen redesign included adding a 2-tier bar area, island, and coffee/drink station. Debbie assisted with layout, customized storage, selections of countertops, cabinets, tile, lighting, flooring, furnishings, and window treatments for the Kitchen/Breakfast Room, and Family Room. Despite our very different style preferences, Debbie provided design solutions that satisfied me and my wife. Recommendations that I was initially unsure of, but my wife liked, turned out to make the biggest statement and were ideal solutions for the look we wanted. They are also the selections that receive the most compliments from friends and family.

One of the greatest lifestyle changes, as a result of, this major remodel is I now come out of my office and have a space in the kitchen where I can check emails and be near the family.

We have a close-knit family and do lots of entertaining. Our family says why didn’t you renovate years ago, everything functions and flows so much better now!

I am a commercial contractor who knows how many details are involved in a project of this size. My wife and I are very satisfied with the results of Debbie’s knowledge and expertise. We highly recommend her!
